SDC Car Parks

Forming a key part of the Selwyn District Councils Long Term plan and projected growth, the award and construction of three major carparks within one of New Zealand’s fasted growing communities, where proactively constructed to enable sustainable parking prior to planned extensions of the buildings and community hubs they service.  The Selwyn Aquatic Centre Car Park extension allowed for an additional 130+ parking bays and secondary entrance / exit with an increased surface area of 3700m2. Opposite the aquatic centre extension was the creation of a brand new 5400m2 / 170+ parking bay Fosters Park Car Park, to support and sustain the multitude of events held at this community hub currently, and for years to come.  This includes the recently constructed playground as well as allowing capacity for the proposed future community club room building planned for construction in the coming years.  The Selwyn District Council car park extension, included for the extension of car parking facilities as well as creating a central park and ride bus stop within the township as an upgrade the current infrastructure.  The 5000m2 development would allow for an additional 100+ parking bays as well as creating two new entry/exit points accessing the car park and bus stop area.  All three carparks included increases to the storm water networks and storage facilities, as well as, the implementation of decorative traffic calming and aesthetic features constructed through the use of exposed aggregate concrete, block paved pedestrian courtesy crossings and landscaped gardens which surround and finish the overall parking facilities.
