The development of Kaiapoi’s residential red zone, following the devastating impact of the Chrischurch earthquakes has seen previous residential land turned into a community recreational and sports pavilion. The main objective of this contract was for the renewal and upgrade of drainage & utility networks, roading and the creation of parking facilities to support current and proposed sport and recreational developments.
This challenging contract provided multiple risk areas ranging from a high water table susceptible to tidal activity, as well as the presence of asbestos, and a mine field of existing services and underground infrastructure associated with former residential streets. Needless to say this contract required a well-planned, meticulously managed and methodical approach utilising our full arsenal of company knowledge, resources and extended suppliers and sub-contractors. The contract works involved a wide variety of disciplines, from drainage, utilities, cement stabilisation of existing pavements and the creation of new walkways, landscaped areas and parking facilities. Once complete this contract will turn the once deserted streets of Kaiapoi’s red zone into a thriving recreational hub for generations to enjoy and benefit from.
